Rabat: The strong and centuries-old ties between Morocco and the United States are an example of bilateral relationships in Africa and the Middle East, and can only get stronger going forward, former U.S. ambassador to Morocco, David Fischer, said. “When you think about Morocco and the United States, there can’t be a better relationship in Africa [and] in the Middle East,” Fischer told MAP on the occasion of the celebration of the Throne Day.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Fischer emphasized the longstanding and strong nature of the U.S.-Morocco relationship, predicting it will continue to strengthen. He highlighted the 26th anniversary of the enthronement of HM King Mohammed VI as a significant moment for both countries, marking a period of enhanced cooperation.
Fischer noted that the ties between Washington and Rabat are built on a history of deep understanding in trade and balanced relationships. He praised Morocco’s efforts under the leadership of HM the King to promote peace and build trusted
friendships in a world facing numerous challenges.
The former ambassador also commended Morocco’s progress in its Southern Provinces, acknowledging the continued investment and the opportunities it creates. He highlighted advancements in healthcare, education, and business during King Mohammed VI’s reign, noting the increased opportunities for people compared to 30 years ago.
Fischer summarized King Mohammed VI’s reign as being marked by a focus on modernization, social reform, responsible leadership, and religious moderation. He credited these efforts with strengthening Morocco’s role as a key player in the region and throughout Africa.
