ENGIE North Africa Appoints Rik De Buyserie as New CEO


Casablanca: This key appointment underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to its ambitious growth and development strategy across the North African region, ENGIE North Africa said in a press release.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Rik De Buyserie, the newly appointed CEO of ENGIE North Africa, expressed his honor in leading the company during this pivotal time. He emphasized his commitment to developing sustainable energy solutions that align with local needs and the Group’s global priorities. “North Africa offers immense potential, and we are committed to working closely with our esteemed partners to drive the region’s energy transition forward,” he added.



De Buyserie brings over three decades of experience within the ENGIE Group, having held numerous leadership roles across various countries and business sectors. His background includes significant experience in energy production, infrastructure, human resources, and leading major organizational transformations.



Before this appointment, De Buyserie held the position of Regional Vice-President for Transformation and Geographies across Africa and APAC, overseeing operations in Morocco and Egypt. He also led ENGIE’s operations in Australia and New Zealand from 2022 to 2025, focusing on electricity generation and distribution to retail customers.



From 2018 to 2022, he served as CEO of ENGIE Energia Perº, a company listed on the Lima Stock Exchange, while coordinating the Group’s activities in Colombia and managing support functions for Latin America.



De Buyserie’s academic background includes a degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Ghent University and participation in the INSEAD General Management program. His diverse experience in varied cultural and economic environments across Europe, Latin America, Asia-Pacific, and Africa will be instrumental in achieving ENGIE’s strategic goals in North Africa.



ENGIE expressed its gratitude to Loc Jaegert-Huber for his dedicated service and invaluable contributions, which have strengthened the Group’s presence in the North African region.
