EU Committed to Strengthening ‘Strategic Partnership’ with Morocco – European Commissioner

Granada: The European Union is committed to deepening its ‘strategic partnership’ with Morocco across all sectors, European Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Dubravka Suica, said on Thursday in Granada.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Suica expressed the EU’s dedication to enhancing its partnership with Morocco, highlighting efforts to foster closer people-to-people ties. Her remarks followed a meeting with Rachid Talbi El Alami, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, during an international forum on the future of the Mediterranean. This event was part of Spain’s presidency of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (PA-UfM).

The European Commissioner acknowledged the cooperation between Morocco and the EU, with a particular focus on migration. She noted that Rabat and Brussels have shared interests in managing migration flows effectively. Suica emphasized the importance of working together to enhance discussions on the New Pact for the Mediterranean.

The International Forum on the Future of the Mediterranean, held from April 2 to 4 in Granada, gathers parliamentary leaders from all PA-UfM member states to address significant regional issues. The discussions are centered on four key themes: migratory movements, climate change, youth employment, and gender equality.
