Gov’t Chief Arrives in Nairobi to Represent HM the King at ‘Africa Forward’ Summit and 4th CBCC Heads of State Summit


Nairobi: The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, arrived in Nairobi on Sunday evening to represent His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the “Africa Forward” Summit as well as the 4th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Congo Basin Climate Commission (CBCC) and the Blue Fund for the Congo Basin, scheduled for May 11 and 12 in the Kenyan capital.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, upon his arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Akhannouch was welcomed by the Kenyan Minister of Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes, Geoffrey Ruku, the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs Abraham Korir Sing’Oei, and the Ambassador of the Kingdom to the Republic of Kenya and the Republic of South Sudan, Abderrazzak Laassel.

The Moroccan delegation to these summits includes the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tehraoui, as well as the Minister Delegate in charge of Investment,
Convergence, and the Evaluation of Public Policies, Karim Zidane.

It also includes a large delegation from the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), led by its president, Chakib Alj, and composed of several stakeholders from the Moroccan private sector.

The “Africa Forward” Summit brings together several Heads of State and Government around prospects for strengthening partnerships between Africa and France. The proceedings of this summit will focus in particular on promoting balanced and concrete partnerships, with a special emphasis on cross-investments, economic development, training, and joint responses to global challenges.

The 4th CBCC Summit of Heads of State and Government is being held ahead of the Donors’ Roundtable dedicated to the Blue Fund for the Congo Basin, scheduled for May 26 in Brazzaville. This high-level meeting is expected to endorse the resource mobilization strategy as well as the political and technical documents resulting from the preparatory process.
