Marrakech: At the opening of the 93rd session of the INTERPOL General Assembly, Major General Al-Raisi expressed his deep thanks and gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for his support towards ensuring the success of this international event. Highlighting Morocco’s assets and its ancestral history, where Amazigh, Arab, Andalusian, and African cultures intersect to shape a melting pot of diversity, he noted that the Kingdom continues to shine as a bridge between East and West, North and South.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this 93rd session of the INTERPOL General Assembly is not only an annual forum for dialogue but also a platform for strengthening international cooperation in the field of policing and security, enabling the outlining of a vision for the future of this organization. This session also provides an opportunity to review achievements and adopt a joint security plan for the next five years.

Presenting a report on his mandate’s achievements, Major General Al-Raisi emphasized the modernization of the police work system, the enhancement of information exchange mechanisms, and the consolidation of trust between member states. He noted the critical role these mechanisms played in the success of INTERPOL’s operations, citing the 10th anniversary of INTERPOL’s Innovation Center as a fundamental pillar of digital and cyber innovation development. This center has bolstered INTERPOL’s capacity to support law enforcement agencies in addressing complex threats and anticipating future risks.

INTERPOL Secretary General Valdecy Urquiza praised Morocco’s support for INTERPOL, highlighting the Kingdom’s active and committed role in the organization’s activities. He thanked Moroccan authorities for their invaluable support during a statement to the press.

Over the four-day assembly, participants will discuss law enforcement priorities such as cybercrime, the fight against criminal organizations, and organized and emerging crime. The General Assembly, attended by senior officials and police chiefs from INTERPOL’s 196 member countries, will examine major global crime trends, including dismantling cross-border criminal networks, combating international scam centers, strengthening global police capabilities, and promoting the role of women in policing.

As INTERPOL’s supreme governing body, the General Assembly is the largest global gathering of law enforcement leaders, providing an opportunity for member countries to build relationships and share experiences.
