Morocco’s Hosting of 93rd INTERPOL General Assembly Highlights Commitment to Multilateral Security Cooperation


Marrakech: Morocco’s dedication to strengthening multilateral security cooperation was prominently showcased during the 93rd INTERPOL General Assembly, as emphasized by the nation’s top police chief. The assembly, held in Marrakech from November 24 to 27, underscored Morocco’s strategic approach to security, aligning with the High Guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who views security as a shared responsibility reliant on institutional cooperation and international partnerships.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Kingdom’s National Security services have implemented an integrated security strategy balancing security preservation with human rights respect. This strategy serves the citizen by ensuring that police action and security communication are intertwined. The police chief highlighted the pressing need for common security structures in response to cross-border threats, the interconnection of criminal networks, and the rise of regional terrorist hubs, all necessitating close coordination between national police forces, INTERPOL, and relevant regional organizations.



The police chief emphasized the importance of developing national security institutions and modernizing their operations to meet citizens’ growing expectations. He called for enshrining international cooperation and mutual assistance between states. INTERPOL’s pivotal role in promoting international police cooperation was also acknowledged, along with the need to address new security threats and crimes exacerbated by technology misuse.



Moreover, the session’s focus on new security challenges, including cybercrime and the role of women in policing, was deemed crucial. The discussions recognized the success of female police officers and the need for increased international solidarity against cybercrime, which poses a hybrid threat to state security.



The police chief concluded by expressing Morocco’s confidence in the success of the General Assembly and its commitment to joint action with INTERPOL and member countries. He affirmed that security is a shared investment and a collective achievement that requires ongoing effort to maintain.



The INTERPOL General Assembly serves as the largest global gathering of law enforcement leaders, offering member countries a platform to build relationships and share experiences. The 93rd assembly addresses critical issues such as dismantling cross-border organized crime, enhancing global police capabilities, and promoting women’s roles in policing.
