Jazz in Rabat: Major Event for Intercultural Dialogue Via Music

Rabat: After several editions at Chellah, the festival was revamped this year by relocating to the amphitheater of Hassan II Park, a green setting in the heart of the capital, the delegation said in a press release, noting that the event featured three sold-out evenings, a new iconic venue, and unprecedented musical mesh of Moroccan and European artists.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, in this unique atmosphere, European jazz and Moroccan music came together, offering three exceptional evenings that won the heart of the large audience, the same source adds.

“Jazz in Rabat is much more than a musical event, it is a space for creation and dialogue, where artists and audiences meet, exchange ideas and enrich each other. This edition, with its new setting and unprecedented residencies, illustrates the strength of the partnership between Morocco and the European Union,” said European Union Ambassador to Morocco Dimiter Tzantchev, quoted in the press release.

From September 25 to 27, the program showcased original creations with a strong female participation. The opening featured the Tania Giannouli Trio and Moroccan percussionist Abdelfettah Houssaini, followed by the C©line Bonacina Quartet with Hamza Bennani Smires and Driss Nigra.

A vibrant atmosphere was felt on the second evening with the Alba Careta Group sharing the stage with Jazz’in Trio, before Sara Bolyki and Petra V¡rallyay joined forces with the Tchubi Sextet. The closing night featured the Belgian trio A.M.E. and Mehdi Qamoum, followed by a fusion of Lina Nyberg and her quartet with BabL’bluz.

An initiative of the European Union in Morocco, Jazz in Rabat was organized in partnership with Morocco’s Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication and the Wilaya of the Rabat-Sal©-K©nitra region.
