KSA Seeks Comprehensive Partnership with Morocco, Signs Key Agreements


Mecca: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud emphasized his country’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Morocco in all sectors during a session in Mecca on Wednesday. The meeting aimed to propel relations between the two nations toward broader horizons.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Saudi minister addressed the 14th session of the Saudi-Moroccan Joint Committee, highlighting the historical and fraternal ties between both countries. He stressed the importance of leveraging the potential of both Kingdoms to serve mutual interests and stated that the meeting elevates bilateral cooperation to a higher level, aligning the countries on various Arab and Islamic issues of common interest.



Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, echoed these sentiments, reiterating Morocco’s dedication to fostering and elevating cooperation with Saudi Arabia. Bourita congratulated Saudi Arabia on its progress and achievements, noting the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Joint Committee as an opportunity to assess and strengthen bilateral relations.



Bourita also emphasized the importance of the Morocco-Saudi Arabia Joint Commission, advocating for continued coordination to enhance its effectiveness across various fields. He noted the need to implement the agreed-upon recommendations and expressed satisfaction with the positive outcomes of previous sessions, which have advanced bilateral cooperation.



The Moroccan foreign minister highlighted the potential benefits of increased business exchanges and identified the African continent and the World Cup as vital areas for economic cooperation and investment. He urged updating the legal framework governing relations between the two countries to adapt to current developments.



At the conclusion of the meeting, Morocco and Saudi Arabia signed two cooperation agreements in customs and environmental protection. These agreements, signed by Morocco’s Ambassador to Riyadh Mustafa Al-Mansouri and Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Sadhan from the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority, aim to facilitate customs procedures and establish a framework for environmental cooperation. The environmental agreement focuses on governance, climate change adaptation, waste management, and biodiversity protection.
