Rabat: Morocco and Chile expressed their shared commitment to bolstering economic and trade relations, building on complementary economies and opportunities available in several strategic sectors. During a meeting held in Rabat, Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Omar Hejira and Chile’s Deputy Minister of Commerce Paula Est©vez discussed prospects for cooperation in areas of trade and investment.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the two sides examined partnership opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, mining, renewable energy, and port infrastructure. They also explored prospects for strengthening trade between economic operators in both countries. Est©vez highlighted that an action plan was agreed upon to boost trade and give new impetus to bilateral cooperation.
She noted that the visit, led by a delegation of approximately thirty Chilean companies, aims to explore new partnership opportunities with Moroccan businesses. B2B business meetings are planned between companies from both countries, with Chile positioned as a gateway to Latin America and Morocco as a platform for access to the African continent.
Omar Hejira emphasized that the meeting is part of the implementation of the Royal High Guidelines, which advocate for the diversification of the Kingdom’s partnerships and their expansion across all continents. Discussions with the Chilean delegation provided an opportunity to review the state of trade between the two countries, highlighting significant potential due to the political and diplomatic ties between Morocco and Chile.
He further mentioned that the business forum planned between the private sectors of the two countries is an opportunity to identify new avenues for cooperation and leverage existing export potential.
