New york: Under the leadership of His Majesty the King, Morocco is actively enhancing structural reforms to ensure inclusive and sustainable development, stated the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, at the 4th UN International Conference on Financing for Development. The reforms in critical areas such as social protection, mandatory health insurance, housing, education, and health signify Morocco’s strong commitment to improving citizens’ living conditions.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Akhannouch highlighted the significant progress made in recent years, notably the expansion of the tax base, the effective fight against tax evasion, and the creation of a tax environment more conducive to development. Despite these advancements, he noted that the financing of ambitious projects still requires the mobilization of additional resources.
Akhannouch also addressed the prospects for reforming international financing mechanisms, emphasizing the need for constructive dialogue between traditional financial institutions and new generations of economic and social players. This dialogue is essential to better meet the legitimate aspirations of citizens. The conference, he noted, is occurring amidst significant global economic challenges and increasing public expectations.
He concluded that Morocco, as a middle-income country, aims to contribute to the development of new global financing approaches that can ensure equitable and sustainable growth. Representing His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Akhannouch is accompanied by a delegation that includes Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Morocco to the UN Omar Hilale, and Morocco’s Ambassador to Spain, Karima Benyaich.
