Abu Dhabi: Morocco is advancing efforts to democratize cultural access under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, focusing on enhancing infrastructure, reducing disparities, and promoting cultural professions, as stated by Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid. This announcement was made during a ministerial session on “The impact of artificial intelligence on culture and human creativity” at the 7th Abu Dhabi Culture Summit.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Bensaid emphasized culture as a critical factor for individual fulfillment, social cohesion, and employment generation. During the session, which saw participation from cultural ministers worldwide, he reiterated Morocco’s dedication to embedding culture within its developmental framework, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to serve humanity.
The Minister spotlighted Morocco’s initiative to incorporate AI in sectors like culture and creative industries, noting its role in enhancing the nation’s historical heritage, attracting tourists and educators, and opening up job prospects for the youth. He advocated for a proactive stance on digital transformation challenges, urging ongoing international discussions on protecting digital age copyright to balance technological advancement with creators’ rights.
The Ministerial Dialogue was led by Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, and Ernesto Ottone, UNESCO’s Assistant Director-General for Culture. In his role as Chairman of the Arab States Regional Consultations for Mondiacult 2025, Bensaid also participated in a regional consultation meeting during the Summit.
