Kigali: The Kingdom is represented at this conference by a delegation led by the Director of Cultural Promotion at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, and personal representative of the Head of Government to the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), Nadia El Hnot, and including, in particular, the Moroccan Ambassador to Rwanda, Youssef Imani, and the Head of the Cultural and Civilizational Action Division at the Ministry, Karima Benkirane.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this high-level meeting brings together ministers, diplomats, heads of state and governments around an ambitious political dialogue centered on spreading shared values such as democracy, gender equality, and human rights. It plays a key role in ensuring political continuity between Summits, overseeing the implementation of decisions taken and preparing upcoming meetings.
On the agenda for the first day of the session are a plenary meeting, workshops, and thematic sessions focusing on women’s contributions within the Francophone community, while Thursday will be devoted to closed-door meetings of ministers and heads of delegations from member countries.
The Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie (CMF) is one of the three governing bodies established by the Charter of La Francophonie, alongside the Francophonie Summit and the Permanent Council of La Francophonie (CPF). The International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), which oversees this process, brings together states and governments united by shared values: the promotion of the French language, cultural diversity, human rights, education, and sustainable development.
The CMF meets once a year to ensure regular and coordinated political dialogue within the Francophone space. Its missions include monitoring the implementation of decisions adopted at the Francophonie Summit, preparing work for the next Summit, setting the major priorities of La Francophonie, adopting the OIF’s annual budget and financial reports, and allocating the Unique Multilateral Fund, the main instrument for financing Francophonie cooperation programmes.
