Rabat: This event, held at the invitation of the Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology, brings together some sixty African scientists, including around thirty representatives from African science academies. It aims to develop concrete proposals for sustainable, equitable, and science-based development.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the theme of this meeting, which continues until November 21, reflects the importance Morocco attaches to issues such as green energy transition, solar energy, desalination, green hydrogen research, and sustainable water solutions, all of which inspire and interest many scientists and researchers in Africa, according to the organizers.
The conference program includes panels and scientific sessions addressing topics related to water security, management, climate, and governance. In conjunction with this conference, NASAC is holding its General Assembly.
Established in 2001 as an independent African forum dedicated to promoting science academies in Africa, NASAC b
rings together 32 science academies from across the continent. Morocco, which held the presidency for eight consecutive years, is currently holding the vice-presidency.
Convinced that science is essential to Africa’s economic, social, and cultural development, this network strives to provide recommendations on scientific aspects of issues important to Africa’s development and to organize meetings between experts on major scientific topics, thereby promoting and developing scientific and technological cooperation between the scientific communities of African countries, in line with the vision of HM King Mohammed VI.
