Morocco: Morocco has made significant progress in its preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup after it awarded a $320 million construction contract to a domestic consortium for the construction of the Sidi Slimane Grand Stadium. The new 115,000-seater modern stadium will be located on a 100-hectare site near Benslimane, north of Casablanca, which will be the largest stadium in Africa once completed.
According to Nam News Network, the winning bid was submitted by Casablanca-based construction leaders TGCC and SGTM, which were the only consortium to meet both the technical and financial requirements, as recorded on Morocco’s official public procurement platform. The construction is expected to be completed in December 2027 ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted jointly by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.
Sidi Slimane stadium is expected to be one of the tournament’s flagship venues, complementing upgrades in Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, Fes, and Agadir.
