M’diq: Morocco secured an impressive tally of nine medals at the M’diq International Nautical Week, showcasing their strength in the sailing competition. Gold medals were awarded to Mohamed Dadach in the ILCA-4 category, Hatim Chairi in the Optimist category, and Safaa Azor, who was the youngest participant. Silver medals were clinched by Dadi Akram, Hajar Amari, and Khadija Idrissi, while Saad Quabil, Lola Beliz³n L³pez, and Abderrazak Elmoustatir took home bronze.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the prestigious event was conducted under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI and featured athletes from 15 different countries. It was organized by the Royal Yacht Club of M’diq in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and the Royal Moroccan Sailing Federation.
The closing ceremony saw the presence of senior officials and notable sports figures, including the President of the Arab Sailing Federation, Sheikh Khalifa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa. In addition to Morocco’s success, Spain’s Felipe Vicener³n and Portugal’s Fabio Baptista Tome were victorious in the Throne Trophies, securing wins in the ORC and Open categories, respectively.
Organizers lauded the high level of competition and noted that the record participation was bolstered by favorable weather conditions, which enhanced the quality of the races. The M’diq International Nautical Week has become a significant event on the Arab sailing calendar, fostering high-level competition while simultaneously promoting regional tourism along Tamuda Bay.
