Morocco’s ANEF Issues Wildfire Risk Bulletin for Aug. 17-20


Rabat: Morocco’s National Agency for Water and Forests (ANEF) has released a wildfire risk bulletin indicating an extreme fire risk from August 17 to 20 in several provinces. The regions identified with the highest risk include Chefchaouen, Fahs-Anjra, Tangier-Asilah, M’diq-Fnideq, and Taza. Additionally, a high fire risk has been reported in the provinces of Al Hoceima, Larache, Ouezzane, Tetouan, Ifrane, and Taounate.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, a moderate risk of wildfires has also been noted in several other regions, including Berkane, Driouch, Nador, Oujda-Angad, Sefrou, Rabat, Salé, Skhirate-Temara, Azilal, Béni Mellal, Khénifra, Essaouira, and Agadir Ida-Outanane. ANEF has strongly recommended that residents living near forests, as well as summer visitors, tourists, and professionals working in forested areas, exercise caution and implement necessary measures to prevent the outbreak of fires.

The agency has emphasized the importance of vigilance and urged citizens to report any signs of
smoke or suspicious activities near forested areas to local authorities promptly. Such proactive measures are critical to mitigating the risk of wildfires during this period.
