Rabat: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, welcomed Djibouti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, in Rabat. Youssouf delivered a written message from Djibouti’s President, Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, to His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Youssouf emphasized the strong ties between Djibouti and Morocco, founded on mutual respect and shared pan-Arab and Islamic values. He highlighted the leadership in both countries, which focuses on good governance and development to ensure prosperity for their citizens. Morocco has been instrumental in supporting Djibouti’s development, particularly in higher education, by providing opportunities for Djiboutian students in Moroccan universities.
Furthermore, Youssouf discussed the extensive cooperation between the two nations in sectors such as banking, construction, investment, tourism, and the hotel industry. He acknowledged Morocco as a m
odel for development and expressed Djibouti’s desire to learn from its successes. Youssouf also expressed his candidacy for the position of Chairperson of the African Union Commission, seeking Morocco’s support in the upcoming election. He acknowledged the significant challenges facing the African continent and expressed his commitment to addressing the aspirations of its people and nations.
