Rabat: Morocco’s National Observatory for Human Development (ONDH) and the World Bank signed, on Wednesday in Rabat, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance the monitoring and evaluation of programs under the country’s Social State Project. The agreement is a significant step towards improving the management and effectiveness of social initiatives in Morocco.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the MoU was signed by ONDH President Otmane Gair and World Bank Country Director for the Maghreb and Malta Ahmadou Moustapha Ndiaye. The primary goal of the agreement is to strengthen institutional tools for decision-making and oversight of social initiatives. This collaboration seeks to enhance the capacity for monitoring and evaluation of the programs, which are integral to Morocco’s broader human development strategies.
The ONDH and World Bank teams are pooling their resources and expertise, as stated by Ndiaye during the signing ceremony. The partnership is set to focus on collaborative tools for moni
toring and evaluation, supporting Morocco’s broader human development policies. This agreement is seen as an essential step in ensuring that the Social State Project’s initiatives are executed and assessed effectively.
Key components of the Social State Project include a national population register, a unified social register, and a direct social assistance program. Gair emphasized that the MoU would help establish a system to guide public authorities in implementing and assessing these initiatives effectively. The collaboration also entails conducting studies, surveys, and simulations to ensure the long-term sustainability and relevance of the programs. These efforts aim to provide a comprehensive framework for evaluating the impact and efficiency of social initiatives across Morocco.
