Rabat: The Prosecutor General of the King at the Court of Cassation, Head of the Public Prosecution Office El Hassan Daki held talks on Monday in Rabat with French Justice Minister G©rald Darmanin, leading a high-level delegation on an official visit to Morocco.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, discussions centered on bolstering cooperation between the public prosecution services of both countries, with a particular emphasis on combating organized and transnational crime. Key priorities included addressing terrorism, money laundering, and international drug trafficking.
Talks also tackled ways to counter new forms of crime, namely those relating to information and communication technologies, which raise challenges requiring fostered cooperation to curb criminality and prevent impunity.
The two parties stressed the importance of sharing expertise through the exchange of information and visits, as well as the organization of seminars and scientific conferences.
These talks also provided an opportunity to present data on the judicial organization and the various projects initiated by the Presidency of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, in particular moralization, modernization, and digitization. Training and upgrading human resources, in addition to several other subjects of common interest, were also tackled.
At the meeting’s conclusion, both parties praised the scope of judicial cooperation and Morocco’s Public Prosecutor’s efforts in combating cross-border organized crime, particularly through effective use of international cooperation mechanisms to prosecute fugitives and handle judicial assistance requests under bilateral agreements.
