Morocco’s Senate Leader and CEMAC Parliament President Focus on Strengthening Legislative Ties


Rabat: Morocco’s top senator met with the President of the CEMAC Parliament to discuss enhancing parliamentary cooperation and strengthening partnership ties between the two legislative bodies. The meeting occurred during Ould Errachid’s participation in the opening of CEMAC Parliament’s second ordinary session. Both leaders emphasized the importance of consolidating communication and collaboration on issues of shared interest and improving coordination in international forums, as stated in a press release by the House of Councillors.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Ould Errachid highlighted that under King Mohammed VI’s leadership, Morocco is committed to its African orientation and aims to deepen this through cooperation founded on solidarity and mutual respect. He described the partnership with the CEMAC Parliament as a means to enhance exchanges of visits, expertise, and experience, and to support initiatives in development, governance, energy, training, and joint socioeconomic projects.



Ould Errachid further emphasized that his participation in the CEMAC Parliament session signifies the collaborative spirit between the two institutions in parliamentary and economic cooperation. He asserted that consistent dialogue is crucial for consolidating African integration in multiple dimensions. He also mentioned the significance of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in Rabat and the Laayoune Declaration, which established a framework for regular cooperation and new opportunities for experience exchange and discussions on economic and regional security topics.



Ngamana, the CEMAC Parliament President, echoed the sentiment of joint work and continuous dialogue as key to advancing African integration. He advocated for leveraging the positive momentum to position the CEMAC Parliament as a hub for launching cooperation initiatives between Moroccan Parliament and CEMAC member states. Ngamana also noted the importance of previous meetings held in Rabat and Laayoune in establishing effective cooperation channels.



Ngamana praised King Mohammed VI for his development projects in Africa and highlighted the strategic importance of the Royal Atlantic Initiative and the Atlantic African Gas Pipeline project in enhancing African cooperation.
