Rabat: Rabat is set to host the ‘High-Level Retreat on Future of Euro-Mediterranean Relations’ on September 11. The event will commence with an opening session inaugurated by Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, alongside Dubravka Suica, European Commissioner responsible for the Mediterranean. The session will also feature Nasser Kamal, Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), among others.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this gathering will unite key figures from the Euro-Mediterranean region for the first time. The attendees will include senior government officials, representatives from international financial institutions, private sector participants, as well as experts, researchers, and think tanks from the European Union and southern Mediterranean countries.
Throughout the day, participants will engage in strategic discussions on the future of Euro-Mediterranean relations, with a focus on the dynamics between the European Union and southern Mediterranean countries. These discussions hold particular importance as they precede the 30th anniversary of the Barcelona Declaration and the launch of the Barcelona Process, set to be commemorated in November.
The main objective of the retreat is to evaluate the relations between the EU and its southern partners and to explore tangible avenues for enhanced cooperation on priority and strategic issues affecting both sides of the Mediterranean.
This initiative underscores Morocco’s ongoing commitment to fostering a solid and mutually beneficial regional cooperation under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.
