Rabat: In a statement to the press, El Khalfi said that ‘unsupervised crowding of unknown origin was registered.’ He specified that “the ban decision taken by public authorities was motivated primarily by the need to ensure a balance between the right of citizens to demonstrate peacefully (Article 29 of the Constitution) and the right of society to security, stability, and safety (Article 21 of the Constitution). ‘Ensuring this balance lies at the heart of the duties of public authorities,’ the spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior emphasized.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the recent demonstrations were prohibited due to their non-compliance with the legal framework currently in force. The Ministry of the Interior highlighted the importance of adhering to regulations to maintain public order, emphasizing that any gatherings must be properly supervised and authorized to prevent disruptions and ensure public safety. The decision underscores the government’s commitment to upholding constitutional rights while safeguarding societal security and stability.
