Sierra Leone Endorses Morocco’s Autonomy Plan and UN Resolution 2797

Rabat: Sierra Leone has reaffirmed its support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and the Moroccan Autonomy Plan. This position was articulated by Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Musa Timothy Kabba, during discussions with Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Kabba emphasized his country’s full backing of the Moroccan Autonomy Plan, deeming it the sole credible, serious, and realistic solution to the ongoing dispute. He further highlighted that Sierra Leone welcomes the increasing international consensus and the dynamic efforts led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in support of the Autonomy Plan and Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.

In his remarks, Kabba noted with satisfaction the historic adoption of United Nations Security Council resolution 2797 on October 31, 2025. This resolution enshrines the autonomy plan within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty as the only serious, credible, and sustainable basis for achieving a political resolution to the Sahara dispute.
