South-South Parliamentary Dialogue Forum: Lower House Speaker Engages with Legislative Presidents


Rabat: Morocco’s Lower House Speaker Rachid Talbi Alami held talks on Monday in Rabat with the presidents of parliaments participating in the 3rd South-South Parliamentary Dialogue Forum, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Talbi El Alami met with the President of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, as well as the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, Yousuf Raza Gillani. Discussions focused on the importance of South-South parliamentary dialogue as a platform for coordination, consultation, and the exchange of expertise.



They also emphasized the need to strengthen political dialogue and consolidate cooperation on issues of common and sustainable development in Africa, Asia, and the Arab and Latin American regions, within the framework of respect for the sovereignty of states, their territorial integrity, and the principle of non-interference, the same source noted.



These bilateral meetings also provided an opportunity to commend Morocco’s initiatives in development and solidarity aimed at strengthening South-South cooperation, as well as the major projects undertaken by the Kingdom of Morocco under the enlightened leadership of HM the King.



The meeting was organized by the House of Councilors in partnership with the Association of Senates, Shoora, and Equivalent Assemblies in Africa and the Arab World, under the theme: “Interregional and Continental Dialogues in Countries of the South: An Essential Lever for Facing New Challenges of International Cooperation and Achieving Peace, Security, Stability, and Common Development.”
