Switzerland Highlights Cultural Ties with Morocco at Fez Festival

Fez: Switzerland’s participation in the 28th Fez Festival of World Sacred Music showcased the depth of cultural ties between the Swiss Confederation and Morocco, serving as a vector of multi-sectoral cooperation.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Swiss Ambassador to Morocco, Valentin Zellweger, emphasized the “central and structuring” role of culture in bilateral relations.

Zellweger noted that the ties between Morocco and Switzerland are robust across political, economic, and social dimensions, with the presence of a large Moroccan community in Switzerland serving as a testament to this connection. He highlighted culture as a “universal language uniting us,” a concept exemplified by the Fez Festival. The participation of the Swiss ensemble Zeinada, performing Renaissance music, aligned with the festival’s theme of “Renaissances,” and underscored the long-standing and dynamic cultural cooperation between the two nations.

Abderrafie Zouiten, President of the Esprits de F¨s Foundation, which organizes the festival, praised the involvement of one of Switzerland’s most prestigious institutions, the Basel School, which delivered a performance of Baroque music. Zouiten remarked that the Fez Festival offers a platform to discover different cultures, countries, and traditions, facilitating cultural and economic exchanges.

Switzerland’s engagement in this 28th edition reaffirms both countries’ commitment to fostering intercultural dialogue and exploring new avenues of cooperation, with culture providing a solid foundation for mutually beneficial partnerships, according to the organizers.
