Guelmim: Speaking at the 149th Diplomatic Roundtable, held at the headquarters of the Diplomatic Foundation in the presence of ambassadors and representatives from around 40 countries and international organizations, Bouaida emphasized the importance of the UN Security Council’s Resolution 2797. This resolution endorses the Autonomy Plan as the only realistic and implementable option to resolve the ongoing dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Bouaida, who also serves as President of the Association of Moroccan Regions, underlined that the adoption of this resolution marks a significant shift in the process of consolidating Morocco’s territorial integrity. She noted that it is the result of Morocco’s persistent diplomatic efforts under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Bouaida stressed that this development confirms the growing support for Morocco’s Autonomy Plan as the sole viable solution to the regional conflict. It also enhances Morocco’s standing as a
regional and international power and a strategic actor for regional stability.
The President of the Guelmim-Oued Noun Regional Council further remarked that the Southern Provinces have become a development model at both continental and international levels, attributed to the achievements over the past fifty years.
On this occasion, she praised the tangible outcomes of the Development Model for the Southern Provinces, initiated by HM the King in 2015. This model has transformed the three southern regions into a significant development hub linking Morocco to its African depth, contributing notably to economic growth and social well-being in these areas.
She highlighted several major structural projects underway in the Southern Regions, including the Dakhla Atlantic Port, the new PhosboucraS Port in Laayoune, and significant road networks like the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway.
Bouaida also mentioned renewable energy and green hydrogen projects, major seawater desalination initiatives, the Atlantic Initiative, th
e Africa-Atlantic gas pipeline project, and significant investments in infrastructure, the blue economy, and scientific research.
For his part, the President of the Diplomatic Foundation, Abdelati Habek, noted that the Southern Provinces have evolved into a space generating opportunities and an advanced hub for investment and growth, thanks to the Development Model of the Southern Provinces.
He added that this model embodies a forward-looking vision that has transformed the region into a promising continental hub and a bridge toward Africa and the Atlantic.
