Rabat: UNSC Resolution 2797 culminates HM the King’s approach that blends diplomacy and development, according to Japanese political scientist Dr. Nakagawa. She noted that this approach has strengthened Morocco’s standing as a reliable actor for peace, stability, and prosperity in Africa and across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, over the span of half a century, Moroccan diplomacy has succeeded in transforming a national cause into a model of dialogue and constructive engagement. Dr. Nakagawa emphasized the Kingdom’s efforts in investing in development, protecting human rights, and aligning its policies with United Nations parameters.
“Today, this legal foundation has reached its fulfillment through Security Council Resolution 2797, which recognizes the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative as the most realistic and credible basis for a lasting solution,” she said, considering this to be a decisive validation of Morocco’s position-both legal and legitimate.
By prioritizing negotiation, investment, and regional cooperation, Morocco has earned the trust of its international partners, she pointed out. In this regard, Dr. Nakagawa highlighted the international community’s support for the Autonomy Plan, noting that the opening of consulates in Laayoune and Dakhla symbolizes the effective recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over its Southern Provinces.
Referring to the Glorious Green March, the scholar stressed that the 50th anniversary of this national milestone is not merely a commemoration but a celebration of the enduring legitimacy of Morocco’s national cause. The Green March has become a universal symbol of legal sovereignty, she underlined, noting that fifty years later, this march continues through Morocco’s steadfast commitment to peace, development, and justice.
