UNSC Resolution 2797 Marks Key Progress in Moroccan Sahara Dispute: Swiss NGO

Geneva: A Swiss non-governmental organization (NGO) has hailed the recent United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2797 as a significant advancement in the ongoing political process concerning the Moroccan Sahara. In a statement, the Geneva-based NGO highlighted that the resolution serves as a pivotal step, affirming the pertinence and credibility of the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative as a foundational framework for addressing the longstanding conflict over the region.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the International Organization for Peace, Development, and Human Rights (IOPDHR) stated that Resolution 2797 is indicative of a growing international consensus towards a pragmatic and inclusive approach. This approach prioritizes dialogue, compromise, and adherence to international law.
