African Congress on Pediatric Cochlear Implantation Marks Milestone in Childhood Deafness Treatment

Casablanca: Hailing it as the fruit of collaboration between the Lalla Asmaa Foundation and the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health, Prof. Snoussi told the press that “today, we can be proud as that all five continents are represented at this Congress, including 15 African countries,” on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the Congress presided over by HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa, President of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the director of the Mohammed VI Audition Center, under the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health, explained that this conference came about thanks to the union of two foundations, “which are striving to improve hearing health throughout Morocco and Africa.”

Created in April 2016, the Mohammed VI Audition Center is the result of a pioneering vision aimed at bringing together all the expertise related to the treatment of deafness in a single unit, made available to hearing-impaired patients who are placed at the heart of the system.

This multidisciplinary unit, located at the Sheikh Khalifa International University Hospital in Casablanca, will also be available at the Mohammed VI International University Hospital in Rabat.

It quickly established itself as a national center of excellence, bringing together ENT doctors, speech therapists, psychomotor therapists, psychologists, biomedical engineers, and specialized nurses, thus providing comprehensive, optimal, and accessible care.

With a comprehensive and specialized approach, the Mohammed VI Audition Center is involved in all aspects of deafness care, from newborn screening and accurate, tailored diagnosis to treatment or auditory rehabilitation with close, personalized medical and speech therapy follow-up.
