Rabat: The Sovereign’s ambitions outlined in the 2008 Royal Speech have turned Morocco into a global football reference, writes the news outlet. “From city stadiums to high-quality sports facilities across the country, young talents now have access to infrastructure rivaling the best in the world.”
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the website notes that making high-quality playing fields widely accessible has fostered the development of talented youth under optimal conditions.
A centerpiece of this vision is the Mohammed VI Football Academy in Rabat, founded in 2010. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the Academy has produced stars such as Youssef En-Nesyri, Nayef Aguerd, and Azzedine Ounahi, and now a new generation of Moroccan talents is emerging, the website notes.
During Morocco’s historic U-20 World Cup victory over Argentina, five players from the Academy, Yassir Zabiri, Othmane Kountoune, Fouad Zahouani, Houssam Essadak, and Yassine Khalif, played decisive roles.
FootMercato highlights that Morocco’s strategy extends beyond player development: with nine top-class stadiums, world-standard hotels, and other facilities, the Kingdom has become a credible and respected host for major competitions.
With AFCON 2025, the Arab Cup, the World Cup, and the U-17 World Cup around the corner, Morocco is set to continue sending strong messages to the global football community.
