Mauritania Looks to Morocco for Advancements in Vocational Training


Nouakchott: Speaking at the Mauritania-Morocco Economic Parliamentary Forum, Malainine Ould Eyih announced that Mauritania aims to benefit from Morocco’s experience in developing “Cities of Trades and Skills,” managing vocational training institutions, and designing training programs.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the minister emphasized the close cooperation with Morocco’s vocational training department. This collaboration is intended to leverage Morocco’s expertise to accelerate the establishment of high-quality vocational training institutions in Mauritania. The Mauritanian government hopes to “save time” by drawing on Morocco’s established practices.

Malainine Ould Eyih highlighted the ongoing development of the Nouakchott Trades and Skills Hub, which will benefit from the Moroccan Office for Vocational Training and Employment Promotion’s (OFPPT) expertise. This major project is inspired by Morocco’s successful Cities of Trades and Skills model.

The cooperation between the two countries exte
nds to developing training programs, implementing a trainer-training initiative for Mauritanian professionals in Morocco, and creating a national agency for vocational education and training in Mauritania. This agency aims to consolidate all vocational training institutions, mirroring the OFPPT model.

Additionally, the minister praised Morocco’s recent achievements in developing its economic sectors and attracting multinational companies, including airlines, due to its well-trained human resources.
