San Salvador: Morocco’s Upper House Speaker Mohamed Ould Errachid and Salvador’s Vice President F©lix Ulloa convened in San Salvador to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors. The discussions occurred during Ould Errachid’s visit to the Salvadoran capital, where he led a high-level parliamentary delegation to participate in the Parliamentary Economic Forum on Investment and Development. This event was co-organized by the Central American Parliament and Morocco’s Upper House.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Ulloa expressed satisfaction with the current state of relations between Salvador and Morocco, which have gained positive momentum since Salvador’s decision to sever ties with the so-called “SADR” in 2019 and the subsequent opening of an embassy in Rabat in 2021. Ulloa reaffirmed his country’s unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and endorsed the Moroccan autonomy initiative as a viable resolution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
The Salvadoran Vice President highlighted the significance of the new diplomatic mission in Morocco, underlining Salvador’s intent to strengthen its presence on the African continent. He noted that Morocco serves as a strategic entry point to sub-Saharan Africa, attributing this to its political stability and regional leadership. Ulloa emphasized the desire to expand cooperation with Morocco, particularly in sectors such as fisheries and agriculture, with the support of the Moroccan government.
Ulloa also acknowledged the current level of collaboration with Morocco, especially in the areas of knowledge-sharing and technical assistance for priority development projects. He commended Morocco’s pioneering role in development and expressed interest in leveraging this expertise to foster effective and balanced South-South cooperation.
