Rabat: In the Joint Communiqu© adopted following talks between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and his Senegalese counterpart, Cheikh Niang, both parties welcomed the excellent and exemplary ties between Morocco and Senegal, based on exceptional historical, spiritual, and human relations, and nourished by the unwavering friendship between His Majesty King Mohammed VI and H.E. Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, President of the Republic of Senegal.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the two ministers agreed to bolster bilateral cooperation in priority areas such as human development, trade, investment, transport, tourism, consular affairs, agriculture, health, vocational training, fisheries, energy, and infrastructure. They emphasized the active participation of both countries’ private sectors in investment and co-development initiatives, aligning with Morocco’s New Development Model and the “Senegal 2050” Vision.
To advance these goals, they announced that the 15th session of the Morocco-Senegal Joint High Commission would be convened to review cooperation projects and identify new areas to diversify and reinforce the existing strategic partnership.
In the same vein, Bourita and Niang agreed to hold the Joint Consular Commission to enhance coordination in mobility, consular services, and community protection, in alignment with the Convention on Establishment signed on March 15, 1964.
Additionally, they revealed plans for the Morocco-Senegal Economic Days to be held in Dakar in 2026. This event aims to strengthen the bilateral economic partnership, particularly by promoting cross-investment between the two countries’ private sectors.
On the consular front, both ministers acknowledged the significant role of communities established in each country as vectors of economic growth and bridges between the two nations. They committed to facilitating their socio-economic integration.
The discussions also covered several bilateral, regional, and multilateral issues, with an agreement to maintain regular political consultations and mutual support for each other’s candidacies within regional and international bodies, fostering a spirit of solidarity and trust.
During these discussions, Niang extended an invitation to Bourita to visit Senegal at a mutually agreed date.
