Morocco-France 15th HLM Marks Turning Point in Bilateral Relations

Rabat: The 15th Morocco-France High-Level Meeting (HLM) reflects the determination to “scale up” bilateral relations and consolidate the Reinforced Exceptional Partnership, French Prime Minister S©bastien Lecornu said on Thursday in Rabat. Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Lecornu emphasized that the gathering marks a “turning point” in bilateral relations, charting a course for both nations under the guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron, with the aim of making “historic decisions.”

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Lecornu highlighted the quality of the exchanges during the numerous sectoral meetings held between the two governments. He noted that the bilateral discussions aim “not only to assess the decisions that have been taken, but also to draw a number of conclusions regarding important public policies.” Priority areas of cooperation include security, the fight against terrorism, global transformations, environmental challenges, and issues facing the African continent.

Lecornu also referred to French President Macron’s State visit to Morocco in October 2024 at the invitation of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. He mentioned that several decisions were made during the visit, focusing on a key commitment: scaling up bilateral relations. The 15th session of the Morocco-France High-Level Meeting is part of the implementation of the Enhanced Exceptional Partnership between Morocco and France, led by the two Heads of State, HM King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron.
