Morocco Highlights Importance of Maritime Corridor Stability at Atlantic Dialogue

Brussels: Morocco has underscored the critical significance of maintaining stability in maritime corridors, as highlighted by Morocco’s Ambassador to the European Union during the 14th edition of “The Atlantic Dialogues.” The ambassador’s address focused on the essential role that these “sea highways” play in global commerce and communication, with over 90% of world trade and substantial internet traffic relying on them.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the ambassador emphasized the strategic importance of the Port of Tangier Med, which is recognized as one of the largest maritime hubs globally. This pivotal port links Morocco to more than 70 countries and 180 ports, facilitating international trade. The ambassador noted that Morocco’s strategic investments and international partnerships have bolstered its competitiveness in the maritime sector, enhancing global connectivity.

The discussion also acknowledged the numerous challenges facing these maritime corridors, including security concerns like pi
racy, geopolitical tensions, and the effects of climate change. This year’s conference, under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, aims to address these issues by building on the previous edition’s multidisciplinary platform approach, seeking to analyze ongoing crises and offer reform solutions aligned with contemporary needs.
