Rabat: In light of its Chairmanship of the Al-Quds Committee, Morocco’s Foreign Minister has declared the Two-State solution as the cornerstone for regional security and stability. Speaking at the opening session of the fifth meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, organized by Morocco in partnership with the Netherlands, Minister Bourita emphasized that this approach is the sole option where all parties benefit-Palestinians gain freedom and dignity, Israelis gain security and stability, and the region gains development opportunities.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Bourita stressed that the Two-State solution is not merely a slogan or a diplomatic tactic; it is a moral obligation and a practical political option that demands immediate action. He highlighted that, while some extremists might lose from its implementation, the broader gains for peace and stability make it a necessary pursuit.
Bourita pointed out that the Two-State solution remains the only viable path toward a just and lasting settlement, advocating for an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Al-Quds as its capital. Despite the challenges, he underscored Morocco’s consistent diplomatic efforts under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to bridge gaps and promote peace.
The Minister reiterated Morocco’s commitment to cease military operations and support humanitarian efforts as outlined in the recent Arab Summit in Baghdad. He also stressed the importance of institutional support for the Palestinian National Authority and integrating economic considerations into peace processes, highlighting the role of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency in supporting the Palestinian economy.
Bourita called for international collaboration, praising the roles of Saudi Arabia, Norway, and the European Union, and supporting the upcoming Franco-Saudi-led conference in New York. He conveyed that the meeting sends a hopeful message to the Middle East, aiming to advance the Two-State solution through concrete actions.
At this pivotal moment, Bourita expressed confidence that the Global Alliance could introduce new momentum into peace efforts, cementing the Two-State solution as the path to a comprehensive and enduring peace for the Palestinian cause.
