RABAT: Morocco’s Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) has announced the promotion of 10,393 police officers, including 466 women, in the 2024 fiscal year, marking an unprecedented rate of advancement compared to recent years. The promotions encompassed both uniformed and plainclothes officers, with a particular focus on those in lower and middle ranks.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the promotion rate this year reached about 68% of the total eligible candidates, highlighting a significant increase in comparison to previous years. The breakdown of promotions includes 7,005 uniformed officers and 3,388 plainclothes officers. The DGSN has emphasized the importance of recognizing officers in lower and middle ranks, with 3,564 officers promoted to police brigadier, 1,269 to chief brigadier, and 1,716 to senior police inspector.
The DGSN’s promotion committees utilized a comprehensive evaluation process, focusing on criteria such as professional competence, merit, performance, seniority, care
er path, and discipline. These criteria ensured that the promotions were awarded based on the nature and importance of the officers’ roles and missions. The DGSN has underscored the significance of regular annual promotions as a key administrative incentive, encouraging officers to enhance their commitment to safeguarding citizens and improving service quality.
