Rabat: Over 56,000 new businesses were established in Morocco during the first half of 2025. The majority of these new enterprises, over 65%, were established as single-member limited liability companies (SARL-AU). In contrast, 33.8% were formed as standard limited liability companies (SARL), and a small fraction, just 0.2%, were joint-stock companies (SA).
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, commerce led the sectoral distribution of these new businesses, accounting for 36.3% of the total. The construction and real estate sector followed, contributing 19.6%, while diverse services made up 17.1%. The transport sector accounted for 7.5% of the new business activities.
The industrial sector contributed 7.2% to the new business landscape, while the hospitality industry accounted for 5.7%. Information and communication technologies also showed activity, making up 3% of the new businesses, showcasing a diversification in Morocco’s growing business landscape.
Regionally, Casablanca-Settat maintained its position as the economic powerhouse, attracting the highest number of new businesses with 17,620 registrations. This was followed by the Rabat-Sal©-K©nitra region, which saw 7,294 new businesses, and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima with 7,203.
Other regions such as Marrakech-Safi, F¨s-Mekn¨s, and Souss-Massa also saw significant business activity, highlighting the geographic spread of new business creation across Morocco.
