Rabat: Ryanair is set to inaugurate a new base in Rabat next April, introducing seven new international routes connecting the Moroccan capital to Milan Bergamo, Baden-Baden, Frankfurt Hahn, Nuremberg, Porto, Pisa, and Valencia by summer 2026. This expansion will bring the total weekly flights from Rabat to more than 18, adding 79,000 seats to the international market and marking a 49% growth in Ryanair’s operations from Rabat airport.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the announcement was made at a ceremony attended by Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy Fatim-Zahra Ammor. The minister highlighted that the new base is part of Morocco’s tourism development strategy, driven by the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. She emphasized the importance of air connectivity in the tourism roadmap and the support from international partners aiming to position Morocco as a leading tourist destination with significant regional economic impact.
Eddie Wilson, CEO of Ryanair, stated that the new base represents a substantial investment, bringing Ryanair’s total investment in Morocco to over $1.6 billion and creating more than 8,500 direct and indirect jobs. The base will also increase Rabat’s capacity by 45% and will be a key feature of Ryanair’s most ambitious summer deployment in Morocco, with an expected 10.7 million passengers across thirteen airports in the Kingdom.
The development will also lead to the creation of over 800 local jobs, including 60 specialized positions for pilots and cabin crew.
