Tangier: Police arrested an Interpol-flagged German national suspected of involvement in unlawful confinement, kidnapping, extortion, and making threats with violence and intimidation.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, preliminary findings indicate that the 26-year-old suspect used fraudulent German travel documents and identity cards to enter Moroccan territory. The individual has been wanted under an international arrest warrant issued by German judicial authorities, as well as an Interpol Red Notice, for crimes allegedly committed in Germany since 2021.
The arrest resulted from close coordination and information sharing between Morocco’s National Police (DGSN) and Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office. The suspect is currently in custody pending a judicial investigation overseen by the competent public prosecutor’s office to uncover the full circumstances and motives surrounding his use of forged documents and identity theft.
Meanwhile, the Interpol Bureau in Rabat has notified its German counterpart of the arrest to initiate extradition proceedings. This operation underscores the Moroccan police’s commitment to international security cooperation mechanisms designed to track down and apprehend internationally wanted individuals involved in cross-border crime.
