Rabat:Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, FAR Inspector General and Commander of the South Zone, welcomed Lieutenant General Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, Chief of General Staff of the United Arab Emirates, at the FAR General Staff headquarters. The visit, on high instructions from His Majesty the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), is part of an official visit to Morocco by a significant UAE delegation.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the visit coincides with the 3rd UAE-Morocco Joint Military Committee proceedings on October 5-6, 2026, and the International Show of Space and Aeronautics ‘2026 Marrakech Air Show’ from October 7-10, 2026.
The meeting between the two military leaders highlighted the strong military cooperation between the countries, focusing on capacity development, defense industry, training, and the exchange of experiences. Both parties expressed their commitment to further enhancing this collaboration.
The FAR Inspector General and the Chief of General Staff of the UAE Armed Forces co-chaired the closing session of the Joint Military Committee, which achieved positive outcomes across various strategic domains.
Additionally, Major General Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei was awarded the ‘Grand Cordon of the Order of Military Merit’ by His Majesty the King, acknowledging his contributions to strengthening military ties between Morocco and the UAE.
The military cooperation between the Royal Armed Forces and the UAE Armed Forces dates back to 1980, with a long-standing partnership reinforced by a framework agreement in May 2006.
