Libreville: Vice President of Gabon’s Government met with members of the FAAPA Executive Council to discuss the Federation’s ongoing and future projects. During the meeting, Arif, Director General of the Maghreb Arab Press Agency (MAP), expressed gratitude for the warm reception and provided an overview of FAAPA’s initiatives, including a training program that has already benefited nearly 300 journalists from affiliated agencies.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, FAAPA aims to train 1,000 journalists by 2030, coinciding with the joint organization of the FIFA World Cup by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, and the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) set to begin in Morocco this December. Arif highlighted the creation of joint editorial platforms to combat misinformation, emphasizing FAAPA’s commitment to promoting an authentic African narrative.
The Vice-President of Gabon’s Government praised FAAPA’s initiatives in enhancing Africa’s media landscape and combating misinformation. He affirmed Gabon’s support for FAAPA’s efforts to develop a credible and responsible press that amplifies Africa’s voice. Chambrier encouraged media outlets to back the new Gabon, which is embarking on development projects to boost the national economy.
Earlier, FAAPA’s Executive Council members met with Gabon’s Minister of Communication and Media, Paul-Marie Gondjout. He acknowledged FAAPA’s critical role in disseminating information that reflects Africa’s dynamics and realities, underscoring the Gabon News Agency’s mission to be a benchmark for credible information.
FAAPA’s momentum has solidified its standing within the African media landscape. The 10th Executive Council meeting is scheduled for Thursday in Libreville, with an inaugural conference on press offenses and journalists’ responsibilities planned for Wednesday.
