Rabat: The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, hosted by Morocco, highlighted the Kingdom’s active solidarity and African roots under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, as noted by former Gambian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad, Mamadou Tangara. He praised the success of the Moroccan edition of this continental event.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Tangara acknowledged that despite the incidents that marred the final and somewhat tarnished the event’s image, AFCON 2025 was characterized by a festive atmosphere. This atmosphere was enhanced by cultural expressions reflecting the richness and diversity of the African continent.
Tangara expressed regret over a campaign that sought to harm Morocco’s relations with Africa, asserting that Morocco had undertaken commendable work, resulting from a steadfast and long-term commitment. He highlighted Morocco’s active solidarity with Africa, driven by a strategic approach under the leadership of His Majesty the King, marked by strong partnerships.
He emphasized Morocco’s dedication to its African roots, noting the Kingdom’s continuous strengthening of solidarity with the continent. This includes training African executives who are contributing to the development of their countries and Africa as a whole.
Tangara expressed confidence in the strengthening of Morocco’s African roots, indicating that South-South cooperation, in which the Kingdom plays a crucial role, is set to enhance and yield sustainable outcomes.
