Rabat: The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON-Morocco 2025) made history by setting an unprecedented record with 6 billion cumulative digital views on social media throughout the competition, according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco has become the most viewed continental football competition in the world, generating 5.2 billion video views. This confirms the tournament’s growing influence and the exceptional enthusiasm of African fans, as stated by CAF in a press release published on its official website.

CAF attributes this remarkable increase largely to the strong following by the African diaspora, which has attracted millions of new audiences internationally. This historic milestone positions Africa’s flagship football event at the very top of global digital engagement, surpassing every other comparable continental competition.

“From breathtaking goals and dramatic match moments to behind-the-scenes access and
fan reactions, content from AFCON Morocco 2025 travelled at remarkable speed across borders, languages and cultures, reinforcing the competition’s status as a truly global spectacle,” CAF noted.

CAF further stated that the success of the competition was driven above all by the involvement of the fans, noting that no fewer than 285 million engagements were recorded. This reflects an unprecedented level of interaction and emotional investment.

“From creative goal celebrations and tactical breakdowns to humour, music and fashion inspired by TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025, fans used the platform to tell their own stories of the tournament in real time,” CAF pointed out.
