Doha: Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi engaged in discussions with his Pakistani counterpart, Azam Nazeer Tarar, in Doha, aiming to bolster cooperation in the legal and judicial sectors and share perspectives on mutual interests.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this meeting, conducted alongside the Doha Legal Forum, highlighted the longstanding ties between Morocco and Pakistan, characterized by mutual respect and continuous coordination, particularly in the justice domain. The discussions underscored the significance of evolving legal and judicial cooperation mechanisms to align with global legislative and technological advancements, thereby enhancing the rule of law and judicial independence.
The conversation also delved into opportunities to cement Morocco-Pakistan collaboration in judicial training, legislative modernization, court management, and alternative dispute resolution methods such as arbitration and mediation. These were identified as critical tools for fostering legal assurance
and improving the business environment. The ministers emphasized the necessity of a balanced legislative framework that marries efficiency with innovation, ensuring the protection of rights and freedoms while upholding transparency and accountability.
In addition, Ouahbi and Tarar addressed the importance of strengthening collaboration in combating cross-border crimes, including terrorism, money laundering, and financial offenses. This would involve sharing expertise and data and establishing mechanisms for mutual legal assistance, all while respecting national laws and each country’s legal sovereignty.
The Pakistani Minister of Justice expressed admiration for Morocco’s reforms in the justice sector, acknowledging the Kingdom’s progress in judicial system modernization and governance. He confirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Morocco across various justice-related areas to serve shared interests and promote legal stability.
