Rabat: The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, operating under the Al-Quds Committee chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, launched on Tuesday in the Holy City the 2026 edition of its “Summer Schools” program, funded by the Kingdom of Morocco.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the program’s activities have already begun in the localities of Silwan, Beit Hanina, Abu Dis, the Old City of Al-Quds, and the Ras Al-Amoud neighborhood. They will gradually be extended to nearly 20 summer schools across various neighborhoods of Al-Quds, as well as several villages in the governorate.
This year’s program, benefiting more than 3,000 children aged between 4 and 17, includes the provision of school supplies, educational and sports equipment for participating associations, as well as materials for artistic activities, theater performances, psychological support workshops, and activities related to new technologies and life skills development.
In this regard, the Agency noted that its support for associations operating in Al-Quds in implementing the “Summer Schools” program aims to provide children with a safe environment and ensure psychological and social support through artistic, musical, and handicraft activities.
The program also includes recreational and physical activities, water games, leisure outings, sports and environmental events, drawing, theater and traditional handicraft workshops, as well as specialized activities in technology and artificial intelligence through support for the “Hilal Tech” summer school.
On this occasion, the President of the Northwest Al-Quds Women’s Association in Bir Nabala, Souzan Tayssir, praised the support provided by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, stressing that the institution is committed to implementing educational and development programs that help strengthen the resilience of children of Al-Quds and their families.
She noted that this is not the first initiative carried out in partnership with the association, stressing that 300 children, including 50 children with disabilities integrated alongside their peers through cooperation with the Joint Committee for Persons with Disabilities in the villages of northwest Al-Quds, are benefiting from the program, which brings joy to its participants.
For their part, the young girls Eila and C©line said that the activities and games organized throughout the day enabled children to enjoy pleasant moments in a festive and joyful atmosphere. They noted that the event featured games, recreational activities, and gift distribution, much to the delight of the beneficiaries. Young Adam called on the organizers to continue the initiative every year, describing it as one of the finest summer activities in which children look forward to participating.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Arab Institute in Abu Dis, Mouin Ammour, said that the summer camp, organized with the support of the Moroccan Cultural Center Association, together with assistance provided to students residing in the boarding school, has had a positive impact on pupils, particularly orphans. Recreational activities, he noted, have improved their psychological well-being, allowing them to break away from their daily routine, while also contributing positively to their academic performance.
The supervisor of the institute’s boarding school, Abdel Fattah Asfour, said the summer camp program will offer orphaned children a summer filled with recreational and entertainment activities that will bring smiles to their faces, praising the role of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency in supporting orphaned students.
Similarly, student Yamen Oweissat expressed his gratitude to the Moroccan Cultural Center Association in Al-Quds for supporting the summer camp, commending Morocco’s efforts to protect and assist children.
The launch of the “Summer Schools” program coincides with the visit to Palestine of Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, Managing Director of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, to launch the integrated support system for education and vocational training in Al-Quds for the 2027-2030 period.
On this occasion, Cherkaoui stressed that the “Summer Schools” program is part of the Agency’s vision to expand initiatives targeting children and adolescents as a key component of its 2025-2030 strategy, which focuses on promoting human development and social support while preserving the civilizational and cultural identity of the Holy City, in accordance with the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee.
The Agency will continue to develop programs dedicated to children and adolescents through the organization of summer schools and holiday camps, the launch of new seasons of the animated series “The Five Gates of Al-Quds” on the “Hayya” platform, the publication of new issues of the educational magazine “Hayya” and the “Al-Quds Notebooks”, as well as the organization of simulation sessions of the International Children’s Summit for Al-Quds, with the aim of strengthening younger generations’ attachment to their city and identity, he added.
