Baku: Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa, President of the Foundation for the Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage of Rabat, visited the secondary school ‘Educational Complex 132-134’ in Baku as part of an educational twinning project between Rabat and the Azerbaijani capital.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, upon her arrival, Princess Lalla Hasnaa was welcomed by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev, Deputy Minister of Culture Murad Huseynov, and Morocco’s Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication Mohammed Mehdi Bensaid. She was also greeted by Mohamed Adil Embarch, Ambassador of His Majesty the King to Baku; Nouzha Alaoui, Secretary-General of the Foundation for the Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage of Rabat; Tarik Sadik, General Manager of la Maison de l’Artisan; Aygun Milkayilova, Director of Educational Complex 132-134; and two young school ambassadors, Maryam Aghayeva and Tamirlan Salimov.
In his speech, Amrullayev expressed the honor of hosting Her Royal Highness at the institution, known for producing notable public figures and scientists. He highlighted the significance of the visit as a new chapter in the school’s history, promoting cultural exchange and educational collaboration. The twinning program, in partnership with the Foundation for the Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage of Rabat, aims to foster global citizenship and mutual understanding through education.
Amrullayev emphasized that the program would encourage young people to explore and celebrate cultural heritage, strengthening the connection between the two cities. Aygun Milkayilova, Director of Educational Complex 132-134, remarked that the project would enhance intercultural dialogue, contributing to deeper mutual understanding and cooperation among future generations.
Princess Lalla Hasnaa toured the school’s history museum, where she attended student performances, including national anthems of Azerbaijan and Morocco. The event featured musical performances by young Atila Garib and student Abid Chalabiyrv, celebrating the musical heritage of both nations. Explanations about the history museum were provided by student ambassadors Nurlana Hasanli and Alper Qarib.
Her Royal Highness also visited a 7th-grade class to learn about the Azerbaijani education system, which integrates arts and cultural education. The presentation underscored linguistic and cultural connections with Rabat, demonstrating the importance of intercultural dialogue in education.
During her visit, Princess Lalla Hasnaa attended ‘I discover my heritage’ workshops, adapted from the educational program of the Foundation for the Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage of Rabat to Baku’s cultural context. An exhibition by students showcased the iconic monuments of Rabat and Baku, blending artistic expression with heritage awareness.
The visit concluded with Princess Lalla Hasnaa posing for commemorative photos with Azerbaijani officials and students from Educational Complex 132-134.
