Laayoune: The Parliamentary Forum on Economic Cooperation between Morocco and the Parliament of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) signifies a concrete step towards enhancing the strategic partnership between Morocco and CEMAC, aligning with the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, stated Mohamed Ould Errachid, Speaker of the House of Councilors, during the event’s opening session in Laayoune.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Ould Errachid highlighted that the forum’s establishment mirrors an increasing recognition of the necessity for a novel model in African parliamentary action, blending diplomatic engagement with economic drive. He advocated for the creation of a consistent institutional framework that unites lawmakers, public and private sector participants, business leaders, financial institutions, and policy experts.
The Speaker reaffirmed Morocco’s dedication to its African identity, stressing the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to fortify relationships with CEMAC member states. This initiative aims to foster co-development and shared prosperity, contributing to Morocco’s comprehensive African strategy led by His Majesty the King.
Ould Errachid further emphasized Morocco’s pioneering role in engaging with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), alongside other significant continental initiatives. He noted Morocco’s endeavors to redefine South-South cooperation through strategic, structured initiatives, such as the “Atlantic Africa” and “Facilitating Access of Sahel Countries to the Atlantic Ocean” Royal Initiatives, benefiting numerous African nations.
