Morocco Advances to 22nd Spot in Global Tourism Ranking in 2025

Rabat: The latest edition of the World Tourism Barometer by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) unveiled that the Kingdom now ranks 22nd globally in terms of international tourist arrivals in 2025, with 19.8 million visitors, the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and the Social and Solidarity Economy reports.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this rise helped Morocco climb three spots in a single year, the ministry stated in a press release, adding that compared to 2019, the Kingdom has moved up 12 spots.

Morocco is also improving its ranking in terms of international tourism revenue, rising from 32nd to 31st place globally in 2025, with a total of $14.8 billion. This increase reflects significant transformation of the tourism sector. It also reflects the results of the Tourism Roadmap, launched by the government in 2023, which has simultaneously accelerated the development of air connectivity, tourism offerings, accommodation capacity, the quality of experience, and human capital skills.

This momentum continues into 2026. In the first quarter, Morocco recorded nearly 7% growth in tourist arrivals, more than three times the global average of 2%, according to UNWTO. Quoted in the press release, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and the Social and Solidarity Economy Fatim-Zahra Ammor said: “These results confirm the relevance of the enlightened Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. They encourage us to further our efforts across all aspects of the tourism ecosystem in order to firmly establish Morocco as one of the world’s leading tourist destinations by 2030.”
