Morocco and Ethiopia Sign Military Cooperation Agreement to Strengthen Bilateral Ties


Rabat: In execution of High Royal Instructions, Morocco’s Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of the National Defense Administration, Abdeltif Loudyi, received Aysha Mohammed Mussa, Minister of Defense of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, who was accompanied by a senior delegation currently on a working visit to the Kingdom.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, as part of the consolidation and diversification of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, a military cooperation agreement was signed in the presence of Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the South Zone. The agreement encompasses cooperation in training, exercises, scientific research, and military health, as well as the exchange of experience and expertise in areas of mutual interest. Additionally, it establishes a joint military commission, which will convene alternately in Rabat and Addis Ababa.



The two Defense Ministers discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation and explored ways to further strengthen it in areas of common interest. They emphasized the positive and constructive role of both countries in maintaining stability, security, and peace on the African continent.



The meeting also highlighted various South-South cooperation and regional integration initiatives launched under the leadership of His Majesty the King, positioning Morocco as a dynamic player in fostering shared stability and prosperity for the African continent.



At the conclusion of the meeting, both officials expressed their shared ambition to enhance these relations through the implementation of the military cooperation agreement and regular exchanges of official visits between the two countries.
